Last week the family and I made the lengthy trek from Michigan to Oklahoma. After three days of driving, stopping, and a couple short visits with friends, we arrived at our dear Granny and Papa's house. Seeing family after long periods of separation is always such a joyous occasion!
After a couple busy weeks getting readjusted to moving back stateside, I was defiantly looking forward to a week in small town Atoka, Oklahoma. Knowing no one besides my grandparents, and having no outside obligations, I was able to spend time reading, visiting, sitting outdoors, browsing Pinterest, playing washers, and lots of time sewing.
I think I make more projects during one week at Granny's each summer than I do throughout the entire rest of the year! I seem to always find a reason to make a craft supply run to Walmart (pretty much the only store around) at least once a day.
One of the many things I've made this week is an incredibly easy pennant garland! Garlands add a fun touch of color anywhere in your house. I used a mix of scrap fabric from a few of my other projects this week. It took me less than 30 minutes and turned out great! I'm hoping to hang it in my dorm room this fall.

Here's how to make your own pennant garland!
Cut a 7x8 in rectangle out of your paper. Fold in half lengthwise. Keeping it folded, cut from the bottom inside crease to the upper corner. When opened, you have your pennant pattern.
Each pennant requires two triangles of fabric sewn together. I used seven different fabrics, so I cut two triangles from each color/pattern. Use your paper pattern to cut out 14 triangles.
Place matching triangles together, right side out. Pin in place.
Sew along the two long sides, leaving the top of the pennant unsewn.
Lay your seven pennants in your desired order. Fold the bias tape over the unsewn top of the pennants and pin (leave room at the end of the bias tape to hang).
Sew your bias tape. Clip any extra threads.
You're finished! Hang your cute pennant garland over a window, fireplace, on a wall, or anywhere else you want to add some summer time fun!
Let me know how your garlands turn out!
